Hello!

We are reaching out to people who have been a part of the Temperament over Time study (TOTS), which was started at the University of Maryland under the guidance of Dr. Nathan Fox. We at the University of Miami’s Affective Neuroscience Lab (led by Aaron Heller, PhD) are working with Dr. Fox and the University of Maryland to do another wave of data collection. We invite you to participate!

This wave of data collection will be completely remote. You can do it from anywhere and it requires no in-person visits. The purpose of this study is to learn about your daily activities, as well as your emotional patterns in daily life. To get at these questions, we would collect some data from you as you go about your daily life over about three months.

In this project, we will ask you to:

• Ask you to download onto your cellphone a GPS-tracking app that allows us to monitor how much you move around day-to-day.
• We will use an automated text messaging system to send texts asking you about how you are currently feeling. These questionnaires are short and don’t take longer than 1 minute to complete.
• At some point during the study, we will ask you perform a behavioral task on your cellphone. You will be asked to view and respond to visual stimuli on a computer screen.  This task won’t take more than 30 minutes.
